Flowers: June-August. Plant in part shade & moisture. HxS 1mx75cm
A recent introduction, Rodgersia pinnata ‘Chocolate Wing’ is a rhizomatous, clump-forming perennial with large pinnate or palmate, wrinkled, veined glossy leaves. These are a rich brown when young, becoming bronze-flushed, dark green in summer, and brown-green again in autumn. During summer, tall, erect, red-flushed stems bare dense panicles of small, star-shaped, pale pink flowers that turn deep red as they age. An excellent plant near water or as an architectural focus in a moist border. Slow growing, they take several years to mature. Pot size 2 litre.
Care & Maintenance.
A fairly easy plant to grow. Just clear old stems in autumn and divide in spring as new growth appears. The rhizome is very woody and you may need a saw. Make sure each division has a growing point.
