Flowers: June-July. Plant in full shade. HxS 90x90cm
Once of the Rodgersia family, this look-a-like is now in a family of its own. It has large scalloped green leaves to almost 90cm across which develop on long stalks. The tall spikes of creamy-white flowers, in inflorescences up to 25cm long, develop in mid-summer. A superb plant in moist shade or at water margins and not invasive. Vegetatively propagated and seldom seen in nurseries. Organically grown in peat free compost. Pot size 1.5 litre.
Care & Maintenance.
Do keep this plant in shade for most of the day or the leaves scorch. Propagate by seed or division. Foliage can be removed in autumn after frost.

Terrific looking plant which came today as part of my first order from Penlan. I’m so impressed. All the plants look great – the packing was marvellous – my order arrived the following morning and included a very generous extra bag of seed heads. Amazing! Highly recommended …

This plant arrived with others all well packed and very quick delivery.
Richard was very helpfulwith information and advice regarding my order and I would definitely use Penlan again.
I planted thiis Astilboides Tabularis in a sheltered site where no sun can scorch the leaves and with plenty of moisture. It will benefit from good natural shady light.
It’s been planted for about 8 weeks. So far it’s growth has been very slow and only put on 2 leaves which are very close to the soil. I’m hoping that it’s growth rate will speed up and am feeding it regularly to help it get along.
I will post more reviews on it and other plants bought at the same time.
