Flowers: June-October. Plant in sun or part shade. HxS 60x45cm
The white Wood Aster of North America has masses of dainty white flowers on arching stems right through summer and autumn. Unlike the large flowered asters this species prefers light shade or woodland conditions where it thrives and remains evergreen. A real bonus are the olive-green leaves and black stems, which contrast superbly with the flowers and give interest throughout the year. A must for the shade or woodland garden. Recent D.N.A. tests have identified that this is not an Aster despite its similarities and so it has been moved to Eurybia (according to the Latin it has changed from male to female too. New labels needed!)
Care & Maintenance.
Cut hard back to the ground each spring and divide just as new growth appears. Feed with a mulch of compost and watch it go. Pest and disease resistant and tolerant of dry soils once established.
