Flowers: April-May. Plant in sun or part shade. HxS 30x30cm
Bergenias have been out of fashion however breeders have been striving to improve them, looking for larger flowers and smaller leaves! This is one such improved hybrid for those with smaller gardens. The evergreen, cordate foliage is red in winter and early spring and not at all coarse. The foliage does turn green during the season. The flowers are pure white and held on taller stems, clear of the foliage. Bergenias grow well in any soil, even heavy clay. AGM. Hardiness rating H6. Pot size 1.5 litre.
Care & Maintenance.
Tidy up old leaves in early spring by cutting them off, not tearing. The rhizome tends to grow out of the ground over a number of years but it is simple to cut off pieces at ground level or just below and push them back into the soil, where they readily root. This can be done after flowering or in the autumn.
