Rodgersias are robust herbaceous perennials, making superb waterside plants with great architectural value. The species name indicates glossy leaves, resembling those of a horse chestnut tree. The panicles of flowers are creamy-white or pink, from pink buds, for several weeks in summer, but also form good seed heads later in autumn. Needs a moist soil to grow to its full potential. Hardiness rating H7. Organically grown in peat free compost.
Care & Maintenance.
Foliage collapses in late autumn and is easily removed to the compost bin. Can be divided in early spring, use a saw on the woody rhizomes. Seed can also be sown in spring. Benefits from a fertiliser in spring.
