Flowers: June-July. Plant in sun or part shade. HxS 50x30cm
This species is native to southern China and Myanmar (Burma), where it grows in meadows, on stream sides, hillsides and forest margins. The velvety flowers are almost black with a small yellow splash on the falls and are smaller than other bog iris flowers, however they are borne in profusion, up to twenty per plant. It is best grown in a moist soil which does not dry out in summer. AGM. Pot size 1.5 litre. Hardiness rating H6.
Care & Maintenance
Collect and sow seed to propagate or carefully divide rhizomes of established plants in spring. An easy plant to grow once established.
