Flowers: May-July.  Plant in part shade.  HxS 60x60cm

This Japanese Candelabra primula has gorgeous crimson flowers.  It enjoys a moist, but not boggy, site and tolerates most soil types.  If your soil is light dig in plenty of humus.  Tall whorls of flowers develop earlier than other specie primula and continue into mid-summer.  Easy to grow but also hybridises with other primulas.  RHS Award of Garden Merit.  Hardiness rating H6

    Care and maintenance.

Dead head to extend the flowering season, but allow the final flowers to seed about and you are likely to get a range of colours! Mulch the crown in hard winters and propagate by dividing the plants after flowering, in September.
