Flowers: June-July. Plant in sun & moist soil. HxS 60x60cm
This lovely Japanese water iris has beautiful rich purple flowers which are a distinctive contrast to the strong white variegation of the leaves. In our experience the variegated form grows shorter than the species. This is an easy and ultra hardy Iris, giving a different colour to our native forms. It should be planted near water but not in it, as a marginal. Hardiness rating H7. For marginal planting see Iris laevigata ‘Variegata’
Care & Maintenance.
Plant irises quite shallowly, so the rhizome in on or just below the surface. Split the plant every four or five years to maintain vigour. Propagate by division or seed.
