Flowers: May-August. Plant in sun or part shade. HxS 10x60cm
The other end of the scale to Gunnera manicata! A small mat-forming Gunnera from Patagonia with a creeping habit, enjoying cool moist soil in sun or semi-shade. The tiny bright red flowers are tucked amongst kidney-shaped leaves, sometimes followed by small orange fruits. If you don’t have room for G. manicata try this instead. It will creep generously and provide very low ground cover, but the stolons are easily removed if not required. Semi-evergreen, remaining evergreen with us, in mild winters. Pot size 1 litre.
Care & Maintenance.
We find it best to mulch this plant in winter. It creeps along the surface and doesn’t really like our wet and cold winters. It is very easily propagated by splitting the running rhizome in spring.
