The petals are deeply notched and the glossy, evergreen leaves are usually a lighter green than the species. Dry shade tolerant, it grows particularly well under beech trees. You will naturally find paler and darker forms if you allow seedlings of the species to grow to flowering size. All the hybrids complement each other. Organically grown in peat free compost.
